Assembly Process at Each Table
Step A: Bagging
Volunteers at the start of the table hold an empty plastic bag under a funnel.
Other volunteers measure and pour each ingredient into the funnel in a specific order (e.g., rice, soy, vegetables, then seasoning).
Each bag must be filled precisely to meet nutritional guidelines.
Step B: Weighing
The filled bag is passed to the weighing station volunteer (typically positioned mid-table). They place the bag on a digital scale to ensure it falls within a specific weight range to meet consistency and shipping standards. If the weight is off, ingredients are added or removed to correct it.
Step C: Sealing
The bag then moves to the sealer station (usually near the end of the table).
Volunteers use a heat sealer to securely close the bag. Sealed bags are stacked neatly for the next step.
Step D: Boxing
At the end of the table, a volunteer counts out a set number of bags (e.g., 36 per box).
Another volunteer packs the bags into labeled cardboard boxes.
Once full, the box is sealed with tape, labeled with the meal type and date, and moved to the pallet staging area.
Team Roles:
2 Ingredient Scoopers
1 Bag Holder
1 Weigher
1 Sealer
1 Boxer
Replenishment & Rotation
Runners or floaters ensure ingredient bins stay full.
Volunteers may rotate roles every 30–60 minutes to stay refreshed and engaged.
Final Palletizing
Completed boxes are stacked on pallets and shrink-wrapped. Typically, 36 boxes are stacked per pallet.
